Kodiak Mini Panel Tote
The Kodiak Mini Panel Tote is a leather tote bag that's handmade of heirloom-quality materials and completely customizable. You can choose the color of each of the bag's three panels, select the color of the interior pocket, pick the length and color of the handles, and add custom features like a snap closure, D-rings, or a crossbody strap. (To make the mini panel tote as customizable as possible, it comes standard without a snap closure or grommets for a crossbody strap, and you can choose whether you'd like the standard 5-inch handles or longer 8.5-inch, 10-inch, or 11-inch handles).
Each mini panel tote is finished with a beautiful hemmed top. Kodiak is a soft, oil-tanned leather with lots of pebbles and natural character. You can combine leathers from our Kodiak collection to build a color-blocked tote or choose a monochromatic look. Your tote will be made to order just for you in KMM & Co.'s Atlanta studio and will be a true one-of-a-kind. Please note that because each one is fully custom, all Mini Panel Totes are final sale.

Each tote handle is cut of belting-weight leather, and has its edges beveled, for decades of comfortable carrying. You can even customize the color of your bag's handles: We offer more than a dozen different options!
4. Traditional, solid copper rivets
Once the handles go on with traditional copper rivets, they're not budging! We take the extra time to set our rivets smooth side out, so they won't snag even the most delicate cardigan. No shortcuts!

How the panel tote and mini panel tote get made
Each bag is handmade in the USA (at the KMM & Co studio in Atlanta)! It all starts at the cutting table, where we cut each panel of your tote by hand. Whether you chose a different leather for each or went with a monochromatic look, we hand-pick the perfect hide or hides of leather, considering their color, grain, character, markings, and structure.
Next, the front and back panels of the tote go to one of our sewing stations, where the top edges of the bag are carefully hemmed. Then, the bottom panel of the bag is meticulously stitched to the front and back panels with a durable and beautiful double topstitch. We then stitch the side seams of the bag, backstitching to lock them in.
Finally, we hand-set copper rivets to form the gusset of the bag, and another eight to attach the handles (which are hand-cut in the color and length of your choice) and the interior pocket and strap. Each tote is made to be indestructible, and for the entire life of the bag, we'll gladly repair it in the unlikely event that something goes wrong with the materials or craftsmanship.

Whether you prefer Cypress or Kodiak, you can combine any colors of leather within the collection to create your panel tote or mini panel tote. Keep it simple and monochromatic or go wild with color: It's up to you!
2. Pick a handle length and color
Everybody's ideal handle length is different. Choose the length that's right for you and how you like to carry your tote! And pick the handle color you love the most: Whether you want the handles to match, coordinate, or contrast with the panels of the bag, there are plenty of great options.
3. Add all your favorite features
In addition to choosing the color of each of your tote's panels, its interior pocket, and its handles, you can choose to add custom features like a brass snap closure, a crossbody strap, or just the D-rings (to attach a strap you already have and love)!

How much does a KMM & Co. panel tote or mini panel tote hold?
The panel tote is the perfect bag for work, school, the weekend, and beyond. It can comfortably fit a 13-inch MacBook, a book, a notebook, snacks, a water bottle, a large wallet, zip pouches, a makeup bag – just about anything you carry everyday. The mini panel tote is great for days you want to travel a little lighter: It can comfortably carry your tablet, a book, your wallet, your phone, and other essentials — and still have room for snacks!
What handle length will be most comfortable for me?
The drop length that's best for you depends on personal preference and body type. We recommend measuring the handles on a bag you already own (and messaging us!) if you're unsure. 7-inch handles are the most popular for the tote, followed by 10-inch handles. 5-inch handles are standard for carrying a mini tote by hand, while longer drop lengths are suited for carrying the bag on your shoulder.
Should I choose Cypress or Kodiak?
While we love every leather in the KMM & Co. collection, Cypress and Kodiak are two of our favorite tannages! Kodiak is an oil-tanned leather that's a great choice if you prefer a leather with pull-up (the tendency to lighten in areas of wear of stress). Cypress has a slouchier temper and a more pronounced pebbled grain than Kodiak. Both are soft and comfortable to carry, and they wear in beautifully with age and use.
What kind of markings should I expect with full-grain leather?
Full-grain leather retains all of its original grain and character, including any imperfections. You might see range marks, grain variations, small spots or scratches, folds, or color variation. They're all a beautiful part of the leather's natural character.
